Electric 4×4 R/C cars?

What is a good Electric 4×4 off road R/C car to buy for a beginner?

Personally I’d go for the Ansmann Royal Flash. It is a very low price, very easy to maintain and you can either but it as a kit (but with no motor) or as a ready to run pre-built truck. Here’s a picture of it…

That would work out to be around 75 US $’s.

David asks…

Is tamiya a good brand name for high end R/C cars?

Is tamiya a good brand to choose when getting a nitro or electric R/C car? If not, whats a better company to buy R/C cars from?

Choosing your first rc car can be confusing. You have many options. I do not feel that getting one of the high dollar or high end cars right out of the box is a good idea for many reasons. 1. They are very expensive. 2. Most are very sophisticated pieces of equipment. 3. Many are kits and require some rc experience to build. 4. Many high end cars come with no motor or engine and no electronics. 5. Many high end cars are engineered just to race. Plus, they can be very fast making them hard to control. Because of high speed crashes you could break many parts and that is very costly.
On the other hand there are many very good entry level rc cars on the market. Choosing the correct rc car when you are getting started in this hobby is very important. Starting out most people want a car that is reliable, easy to work on and fun.
If there is a hobby shop close, go and check it out talk with the people working their and talk to a few customers. Check out your local track. Ask questions, but be polite.
Decide where you are going to drive your rc car, backyard, parking lot, empty lot or race track. That can be helpful in choosing the right rc car.
Always remember this hobby is about having fun.

I am looking for a starter r/c car for my kids. Can anyone give me any advice on nitro vs electric cars?

I have been looking at the Traxxas line, nitro sport, or the nitro rustler.

Nitro cars are more $. But dollars per hour, the nitro cars are a better value.
