Laura asks…

How Can I Get Started On A RC Helicopter Hobby?

I want to get a RC Helicopter, because i need to start a new hobby. Where can i get all the parts to a helicopter, with instructions to build one? I want to buy online, and i want to start before June/July.

I would suggest clicking on the following link:

Those helicopters listed and the site provided will show you what helicopter is best and the available parts that you can replace it with.
I would suggest starting with a coaxial helicopter; The one with one propeller on top of the other.
Something like this:

They are affordable and it comes with everything you need to do the hobby.

You don’t need the instructions to build one, and it is best not to build your first helicopter, as it just builds frustration with the hobby as it doesn’t fly. The helicopter you purchase here does come with a manual that states how to replace a part for the helicopter if necessary.

Betty asks…

Does anyone know who is the best RC Hobby supplier to buy wholesale from with no minimum purchase?

I found some in China, but I am a little leary of delivery time.

Don’t do the one in China… My dad deals r/c cars and parts, and if you want it to be a good company, there’s pretty much always going to be a minimum purchase… But if you have friends who are into the hobby, just ask if they need anything so it’ll make the minimum purchase less expensive for you.

If you haven’t tried your local phonebook yet, start there. Yes, it’s printed matter and may be a few months old. However, it is probably still up-to-date enough for this. Look under hobbies. They should list hobby shops in your general vicinity. Phone the shops and see if they carry Traxxis parts.

If you have already tried the phonebook and come up emptyhanded, your next stop should be Google Maps. Go to Google and click on the word “maps.” Type in what you want (a hobby shop) and then enter your address where requested. It can cover a wider area than a local phonebook may, depending on your area.
